3.5 FM changes the way we throttle.
In to a decoupled throttle system regardless if we’re flying decoupled or coupled.
So just to make it simple so that everyone understands. If you push your throttle forward to 100% you’re gonna be accelerating to 100% speed. If you at that point bring back your throttle lever to 0% you will continue flying at 100% speed. UNTIL YOU ACTUALLY PUSH THE DAMN RETRO BUTTON!?!? For example if you’re at max throttle and flying 200 m/s, in order to make it 190 m/s you have to click the retro button and decelerate by 10 m/s to find 190 again on your axis.So this means the coupled throttle control as we know it is going bye bye, and you will only be able to decelerate using retro thrust.
(This makes no sense to me, makes having an analog throttle rather pointless since its working almost like a digital input – a button)
Based on a lot of this sort of feedback the throttle we showed at citizencon is changing somewhat to make it more intuitive and easy to understand. We’ll show it as soon as it’s ready.
