Another Question I’d like to add to this is : Does the Gen12 – Vulkan switch improves server performances or is it destined to clients only ?
To my understanding Vulkan is a graphic (GPU) API but there was mentions here and there that it could also improve CPU performances and multi-threading. @BParry_CIG
EDIT : Was reading the Wikipedia about Vulkan posted just above, seems like its able to optimize CPU workflows too but still the server side question remains.
Also, noted that “CryEngine – Support for Vulkan was added in the 5.4 release.” if Lumberyard is based on Cryengine, does Amazon updates Lumberyard based on Cryteks Github/repo or they bought a specific branch/version and started from there?
And wouldn’t Amazon also work on their side on implementing Vulkan? If so, are they cooperating with you (or you with them) to achieve this? Or is CIG working on their own implementation regardless of the possible external implementations
Our implementation doesn’t merge any code from CryEngine or Lumberyard’s Vulkan conversions.
