What I meant was, is there a way to make the LOD of a object lower for the reflections or even make them particles? SDF I feel could be used to basically help make a shapes in the reflection but again not sure.
Unfortunately no, not in any sensible way. We’d still have a lot of objects, whatever we converted them into, and we’d still have fixed costs for setting up the lighting, fog, etc even on low-poly objects. There’s also the issue that the moment you start talking about drawing things using some drastically different technique, you’ve committed yourself to finding a way for any new feature in the normal technique to be replicated in the emulation technique.
