I have noticed that the Position Offset with Tobii (possibly with FT as well) seems to be Camera Local Coordinate relative.
This means that when I lean forward I always “push into the view”. I look straight ahead and lean forward in my chair, the Character moves forward. I look down and lean forward, my character moves down instead of looking down but moving forward.
Same when I look to the side and lean forward in my (real) chair. Instead of looking to the side but moving forward (along the ship axis) the characters head moves towards the view direction.
This behavior makes it difficult to impossible to actually assume a controlled pose because the motion of the character deviates from the real live motion of the tracker head.
For example you want to lean forward and the look down, but instead the characters head “homes in” on the dashboard.
Can we have the positional offset relative to the ships coordinate system?
We just submitted the option to decouple the position inputs from the rotation inputs for Tobii and Faceware head tracking. It will ship with 3.13.
