I am part of a group of the community who uses inverted mouse controls. “So what? Its in the game already.” you may say, but please hear me out.
This group is about 10-20% of the whole playerbase. Using inverted mouse controls is often NOT a choice or a preference, it is a mental model. It is literally impossible for some of us the play any FPS without inversion.
There is a large issue preventing us from effectively testing/playing the game: When the First Person View is inverted, it also falsely inverts all ingame menues, terminals, consoles and Items 2.0 interaction. So basically it inverts everything, but this is not how it should be. Cursors should never be inverted, we only need the inversion for the First Person View!
If you are not an inverted player, just imagine to be forced to play always inverted FPS or always use inverted menus. This is the reality for us now for more than a year.
This issue was raised multiple times on the issue tracker already, but since we are not that many, it fails to get the attention of CIG. There is currently a post on the forums about this in AskTheDevs with the list of issues.
Again, it is NOT as QoL feature like some exotic FOIP or TrackIR (which are already in game), it is a BASIC REQUIREMENT for us to be able to play the game at all in the first place.
Edit: most upvoted IC report
We’ve definitely seen this feedback, and I think it’s awesome that the Issue Council was utilized here.
We’re indeed working on a fix for this. Thanks everyone!
