Last night (Friday, May 3rd), CIG initiated a mass automated deletion of CCUs that had a current upgrade value of $0 USD.
Reports are now coming in that this process has also deleted some CCUs that backers paid money for. These were CCUs that cost greater than $0 at the time of purchase, but were, as of last night, worth $0 in upgrade value (due to the ship of lesser value having its price increased at some point during development.)
These CCUs were deleted without CIG refunding backers the cost paid for the CCU. This is why I would advise everyone to check your hangar logs, and cross reference the deleted CCUs against your billing statements to make sure that you have not lost any money during this automated process.
From what I can tell, CIG/Turbulent used an algorithm that deletes CCUs based on their current upgrade value, and not based on their original purchase price or current melt value (either of which would have avoided this error.) If you had one or more of these CCUs, you may have been affected by this error.
Since this process was started late on a Friday night, it is unlikely CIG will be able to adequately address this issue until next week. This gives everyone a couple of days to check your hangars, and if you find you were affected, have your information ready to provide CIG.
The team spent some time investigating this and did indeed discover an issue. Rest assured that they are working on getting a fix out asap. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention!
