Thanks for all your hard work brother, despite any controversies in the community and shows, we all know you’re doing your best with what you have and has nothing to do with you.
In any case what i’m trying to say is, we appreciate you.
I’ve spent the last four years celebrating my birthday in Cologne, Germany, away from my family and friends but surrounded by a surrogate brood of Star Citizens. After nearly half a decade of this now, I was actually pretty down on the idea that I wouldn’t get to celebrate my birthday with this adoptive group that accepted me so many years ago now and I work every day to serve to the best of my ability.
I’m acerbic, sure. Rough around the edges, absolutely. Emotionally stunted and uncomfortable with showings of sentiment and sometimes hardened against a few too many times when something said in good nature was taken with opposite intent. I make videos for you because my deliberate prose intended to curtail misappropriation can sometimes betray the affection I have for this community and how much I enjoy working for you each and every week.
When you can see my face and hear my voice and witness my consternation and experience the joyous laughter that occurs when I’m as deeply enthralled in my guest as I hope you are, it’s because I believe it’s the most sincerest and honest form of communication I can provide, the written word so often sterile and calculated and overly-considered. So, it’s through video that I know so many of you through, a child that suffered for communicating with people through a terrible stutter that still manifests today when I’m particularly flummoxed, this media I choose to serve you through can be difficult, but so very, very rewarding.
Through ups and downs, twists and turns and four or five job titles my actual purpose here has never changed, and that’s to represent the efforts of this project through the character and personality of the people that create it, to shine a light on all aspects of development (especially the parts other companies would never think to) and to do so with a modicum of humor and goodwill whenever possible.
Because video games are supposed to be fun, and so should I believe working on video games be.
Between ATV, RTV, Anniversary Videos and Livestreams, 10 For the Chairman, Bugsmashers, Loremakers, CitizenCons, Meet the Devs, Wonderful World of Star Citizen, Gamescoms, Which Glitch, Empire Report, Game Commander (remember that one?), Happy Hour, Holiday Livestreams, Citizens of the Stars, Inside Star Citizen and Star Citizen Live and more I can’t remember (there was one episode of Versebusters, I think?). Last month, I passed 1000 videos produced in the last 52 months of working for you, and everyone holds some war story or rememberance of my time here with this community.
Thank you for making me feel special again on this fifth birthday with you, and here’s to another 1000 videos.
